As you may have heard by now, Google has released its latest version of Analytics called Google Analytics 4 (GA4). There are some unique new features to GA4 that allow publishers to track data across mobile apps and websites.

Should you include GA4 in your MagLoft Universal App?

The short answer is yes! The main reason for this is you won't start generating data for GA4 until you add the new tracking code. So we encourage publishers to also include your GA4 tracking code so you at the minimum start to generate historical data for later.

We are not huge fans of GA4 but things can certainly change in the future as they continue to improve it. One of the biggest things we miss from GA3 is the ability to share a custom dashboard. This is why you should make sure you add both your GA3 and GA4 tracking codes. That allows you to get the best of both worlds.

Will there be a MagLoft Universal App Statistics Section?

Yes, this is on the roadmap for Universal App. The thing about statistics is it's a very complicated beast, and we want to make sure we develop the right dashboard for our publishers. This is why we are starting out with using GA3 and GA4 for reporting, but as soon as we have a good understanding of what publishers require, we will build a much more simple dashboard directly in your Universal App account.

How to add GA4 Measurement ID to Universal App?

  1. Login to your GA4 Analytics Account. If you haven't created an account yet, follow this guide to find out how!

  2. Copy the Measurement ID of your GA4. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Measurement ID contains `G-` followed by 10 alphanumeric characters.

To find the ID, go to Data Streams on your Analytics page, and click the website of your choice. If you don't have a data stream, you need to add one first.

On the next screen, you should see your GA4 Measurement ID as shown here:

  3. Paste the Measurement ID to your Universal App Admin. Head on to Settings > Tracking, and paste the code on the form provided. We have provided a help article here, where we walk you through step by step.

And that is it! If you would like to add a GA3 Tracking ID instead, check out our help article right here, to learn more!
