The brand new Universal App Dashboard shows a lot of information about your account. This new dashboard provides you with analytics data and it comes out with two different layouts for trial and active customers. We’ll be explaining every part of the Dashboard one by one.
Please Note: This overview is for non-live publications ONLY. For live publications, go to this article for an overview of the users’ Dashboard.
Disclaimer! When you’re just starting out with Universal App, the data shown on your Dashboard is only dummy data. Your Dashboard will pull your real data once you have published content in your Universal App and successfully connect it to your domain.
Here's a quick explanation for each part of the Dashboard according to the corresponding number on the screenshot above.
New Visitors
This part also shows dummy data for your reference. Once you go live with your custom domain, you will get visitors and this feature will start reflecting your real data. Visitors are anyone who visits your Universal App - they can be a reader or just visiting. Learn more about different kinds of visitors here.
Total Visitors
This shows your total number of visitors since you went live.
Total Views
This reflects how many times your Universal App has been visited since you went live (by adding your custom domain). Like Total Visitors - this part will show dummy data until you connect your Universal App to a custom domain.
Traffic
This shows Google Analytics tracking stats for your Universal App. If you haven’t successfully connected a custom domain to your Universal App, this part will only show dummy data.
Please Note: Unlike the other metrics, Traffic shows the data from the beginning of a period to the end instead of a rolling period. For example, for the 1-year data, if today is March 15, 2021, it will not show data from March 2020 to March 2021 but instead, it will show the data from January 2021 until December 2021. When you switch to the 1-month traffic, it will show data per week for the past four weeks, starting from a Sunday.
Average Bounce Rate
Average Bounce Rate is the number of times visitors visit your Universal App compared to the amount of time they exit without performing any actions such as clicking any button, visiting another page, etc. Learn more about Average Bounce Rate here.
Average Time Spent (per user, per session)
This shows you how much time your users spent on your content per session. This information can give you an insight into the engagement rate and your readers’ interest in your content. If your ATS is decreasing, it means that your readers spend less time on your content and you might want to find out why. It can also help your Universal App’s SEO score – Google measures the quality of your content, meaning that the longer readers spend with your Universal App, the higher your SEO score might be.
This can also help you to plan your content length. For example, if your articles only have around 100-300 words, it might affect the average time spent by the readers on their UA, the less time spent, the lower your SEO score might be, on top of other things that affect SEO score. However, this is not the main thing that affects SEO score, but it does comprise one of the important indicators contributing to a good SEO score. You can do whatever you want with the data!
Most Visited Content
This list will show you which content is trending or doing well and reflects how many times they were visited. This can be helpful - you can see what kind of content your general viewers gravitate towards.
