Mapping PDF content to HTML in TypeLoft allows you to link your static PDF documents to their respective HTML versions, creating a seamless transition between formats. This guide will walk you through the steps to effectively map your PDFs to HTML, ensuring that your readers can easily switch between the original PDF layout and the interactive, responsive HTML content.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Upload PDF Pages

    • Start by uploading all the PDF pages you want to map. Ensure none of them are mapped yet to any article.

  2. Create HTML Articles

    • Manually create the HTML articles that correspond to your PDF pages.

  3. Access the Mapping Feature

    • Within the HTML article editor, go to Atributes and locate the section called Link PDF Page.

  4. Select the PDF Page

    • Choose the specific PDF page you want to map to the HTML article. This will be the priority page that the system will default to when switching between formats.

  5. Save Your Changes

    • Click Save to ensure your mapping is applied. Note: Sometimes saving may fail, so double-check to confirm the changes are saved.

  6. Link PDF Sections to HTML Articles

    • Go to the PDF page and block out the paragraph you want to link to an HTML article

    • Choose Link to Article and choose the article.

  7. Handling Multiple Mappings

    • If an HTML article is mapped to multiple PDF pages, the system will prioritize the first mapped PDF page when switching from HTML to PDF. However, if the user switches back to HTML and then returns to PDF without navigating, they will be taken back to the last PDF page they were on.

  8. Unmapped Articles

    • If an HTML article has no PDF page mapped, switching from HTML to PDF will take the user to the very first PDF page.

Testing the Mapping

  1. Preview the Mapping

    • Use the Live Preview or your live domain to test the mapping. Navigate to the HTML article and use the switch button to toggle between the PDF and HTML versions.

  2. Verify Navigation

    • Ensure that switching from HTML to PDF takes you to the correct PDF page and vice versa. Test scenarios where multiple PDF pages are mapped to a single HTML article to confirm the correct behavior.

  3. Check Unmapped Articles

    • For articles without any PDF mapping, verify that switching to PDF takes you to the first PDF page.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and intuitive experience for your readers as they navigate between PDF and HTML content. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to support@magloft.com.
